12 Apr 2007 reflections of the course modules

Long post ahead! lol, and I thought might as well write about my thoughts and feelings about all the modules that I have taken in this semester. :) Read on…

Attended the last class of the semester, Human Resource Management And Entrepreneurship tutorial. Sounds like a mouthful for a module? Let’s shorten it to HRM then.

HRM is one of my modules that I am reading this semester, and in short, we learn about Human Resource Management as well as Entrepreneurship. Apart from exams, a business plan proposal and presentation are also part of the deliverables. I remember very well the hard time my group members and I had when we have to come out with a new business idea. And we literally hit the panic button, because we finally hit upon a concept and the deadline was like 7 days away?!

Thankfully, the group worked cooperatively, and we manage to submit the whole report on time. Phew, and its a great relief to be able to deliver on time. Apart from that, preparations went underway for the presentation. Everyone of us dressed up in formal attire. :) Sticking to the 20 time limit for a group of 5 to present is challenging, and yes, we stuck to it. ^^ It felt good listening to what your tutor has to comment on the business proposal as well as the presentation. Haha, and yes, we did it! Credit is not mine alone, but to everyone in the group who have made it possible. :D *applause*

Initially, I dreaded the project, partly because I don’t really like the area of business, however, I was proven wrong. I kinda like writing them after all. and yes, the perfectionism of the business report is very high. After the end of the presentation, I felt so happy and relieved.

Besides HRM, I also took Algorithms, interesting subject, but its also causing a lot of nightmares too… But I believe that I can overcome it…

Software Models and Systems, ah.. another of my likeable subject. Besides learning on building a applet application with animation and all, the concept of concurrency, safety and liveness property, deadlocks, semaphores etc are also taught, and so far, i did pretty well for the lab assessments as well as report. :)

Another one would be Software Engineering I. Its about learning the principles of Software Engineering and developing a project. And it so happen to me that I am the User Interface Designer. Not too bad, learn a lot more on developing websites, the various techniques and yesh, CSS… :)

Last but not least, my science elective. Interesting to learn, but somehow can’t adapt to the way the assessments are conducted. But I think I manage to pass.

Hee, but my grouse is that the timing is kinda screwed up… and there ain’t enough time for us to study for the exams. cos in previous semesters, there is at least a pure 2 week window to study.

Oh well…
