Sometimes in life, we ought to slow down and take a breather from the fast ultra-fast pace of life in Singapore. Its no wonder that there are many being afflicted with depression and stress conditions… These do not apply to just workers, but to students as well… Look around you, how many are feeling happy to study?
Some of us keep mugging and mugging, even when we are sick… why? All for the sake of grades. If you take MC, that doesn’t mean you can escape sitting the examination, you still have to go for it, else its deemed that you have flunked the module and have to repeat it next semester. Even if you get excused from the examination, you still have to do the module next semester. Thus, many would go to the examination hall in a half-sick condition to do the examination papers.
It happened to me last semester during examinations also… Sat for 2 papers in a sickly state… with fever and freezing air-con blasting directly to me… while traveling between NTU and Tampines. Its a miracle I manage to pass the modules.
I look around… and while i see people are smiling and laughing on the outside, deep down, they feel stress and pressured… its tantamount to being cooked in a pressure cooker… Just that there will come a day when you just can’t take it anymore and explode. Now then this explosion will be disastrous.
Sleeping, has become a luxury. Often, sleep is the last thing on my mind when I do projects and stuff… things which run on deadlines… I will always think of getting it done then sleep… which results in me getting like 4 hours of sleep at times… next day waking up and feeling super tired…
I guess through it all, we oughta self reflect.
