01 May 2007 Slow down!
 |  Category: my life  | 5 Comments

Sometimes in life, we ought to slow down and take a breather from the fast ultra-fast pace of life in Singapore. Its no wonder that there are many being afflicted with depression and stress conditions… These do not apply to just workers, but to students as well… Look around you, how many are feeling happy to study?

Some of us keep mugging and mugging, even when we are sick… why? All for the sake of grades. If you take MC, that doesn’t mean you can escape sitting the examination, you still have to go for it, else its deemed that you have flunked the module and have to repeat it next semester. Even if you get excused from the examination, you still have to do the module next semester. Thus, many would go to the examination hall in a half-sick condition to do the examination papers.

It happened to me last semester during examinations also… Sat for 2 papers in a sickly state… with fever and freezing air-con blasting directly to me… while traveling between NTU and Tampines. Its a miracle I manage to pass the modules.

I look around… and while i see people are smiling and laughing on the outside, deep down, they feel stress and pressured… its tantamount to being cooked in a pressure cooker… Just that there will come a day when you just can’t take it anymore and explode. Now then this explosion will be disastrous.

Sleeping, has become a luxury. Often, sleep is the last thing on my mind when I do projects and stuff… things which run on deadlines… I will always think of getting it done then sleep… which results in me getting like 4 hours of sleep at times… next day waking up and feeling super tired…

I guess through it all, we oughta self reflect.

01 May 2007 heralding the arrival of May
 |  Category: my life  | Comments off

Time flies, its now May. Oh gosh. Has this semester come to an end? I felt that it barely just begun. Oh my gosh. This entry records my thoughts and feelings towards school… so read on… hahaha, my apologies if the entry is whee bit too long… =X Oops… :) This entry summarize some of my experiences in hall as a first time hostellite.

Every morning, in the hostel, I get awakened by the peeking rays of sunlight into the room, the chirping of birds (parrots as well) and yes, my alarm clock (new one) – the old alarm clock met its death after jumping down my table twice. lol… Its amazing I can adapt to sleeping in non air conditioned room… and I guess it did wonders to my nose… no morning flu symptoms. :D The ceiling fan is powerful enough on most days, except if the day has a very high level of humidity. The day will start off with me turning on my laptop… hehe, i dunno why, to read the news of the day la… no newspapers also must update myself with current affairs you know… =.=” While its booting up, I make a quick trip to the toilet to wash up… :) Routine stuff.. like buying my meals etc… haha, and then do my homework/assignment/revision… Need entertainment? Turns to my laptop. hahaha… and I don’t watch TV when I am in hostel. Funnily, I survived, despite having no TV. :D This is what happens when I am not having lessons in campus.

If I have lessons, I keep a strict waking up timing, and that varies depending on what time the lesson starts.. usually I will wake up about 1 1/2 hrs before the class… then can get ready to go to class ma… hahaha… usually, a shower is suffice, and I will grab something to bite along the way… not bad eh… staying a stone throw away from school is so great. :D

No doubt that I face the jungle, where live firing shots can be heard… Its never boring to be in hall alone. Even solitude does wonders to your soul. Initially when I moved in, the gun shots sort of shaken me… for the first few nights, couldn’t sleep well… cos… of these shots that rattled my door… but have since grown so used to it XD

Staying in hall made me independent. yay!

Ok, guess I will stop here… a bit abrupt, but yeah no choice, gotta mug… will write about more stuff real soon :)
