My last post in my hostel room before i move… so pardon the lack of flow in this post… hahaha
Hall 14 is my first choice hall when I first applied for accommodation in the university. Heard friends who lived in there told me that this hall is quite good, spacious rooms, adequate facilities etc… So imagine my delight when I received the email notifying me that I am allocated a room in that hall. A big thank you to all the people who helped me to shift in my stuff and getting me settled down into hostel living.
I remember the nights I couldn’t sleep well initially, because of the live firing at night ( my hall is located next to the forest, just separated by a strip of road ), as well as not used to sleeping at a place outside home without air-con. Took me a few days to adjust to it, and it kinda hits you when you need to be independent and do the chores like washing your own clothes, hang laundry etc… fun yet tiring, especially with the onslaught of lessons and projects… the independence is great!
having a roommate is fun, and I had not one but two roommates… the first one was a graduate student, and she moved out shortly after I moved in, and for a short period of time, I was the sole occupant in my room… and came my second roommate… Name’s Jessica and its great knowing her ! hee…
There were moments of fun with friends staying in the nearby halls, having meals alone most of the time ain’t such a bad thing… But it would be lovely to have company at times… This room also saw me going through an emotional roller coaster ride, and manage to come out unscathed. This room also saw all the good and not so good times I went through.
Food is quite alright and taste ranges from bad to very good… But there are times that I get so sick of eating school food, which saw me reaching for instant cup noodles or ask hendri to packet from outside for me… hahaha
My trusty laptop, what can i do without you ? lol… for my laptop is my source of entertainment, my source to do the mountain of projects, as well as the source for discovering blogs, ping.sg and more…
Its great to wake up everyday and see the greenery… Will miss that so much. You can see frogs on very rainy days, hear them croaking away, the merciless mosquitoes (which I am quite good at swatting them to meet its Creator), the annoying lizards (the noise they make and the droppings), the moths (which are huge), bees that threaten to scare the living daylights out of me (they are huge), as well as the green parrots… snails, and cats…
Through it all, I became a better person and I am still striving to improve myself. Perhaps its due to all that independence and some not so pleasant experiences… I had a fantastic counsellor, who helped me to overcome some obstacles and maximize my potential. Now I am convince that I can do anything, if I set my heart right, and when the opportunities come along, I shall grab it and make the best out of it…
Gah, this is such an emo post lol… yet its the best of my ability to describe how I feel… about my hostel living experience. I really miss home and my family. aww… after not going home for close to a month, so that I can wrap up the projects as well as study for the examinations…
Its a unique experience to stay in the hostel, and it certainly in a way, molded me into a better person.
