Using a acronym name to talk about some person is much safer than naming the person. This PITA, really cause a lot of pain in one of my module’s project. I just wonder how PITA manage to progress through the module’s. I was forced by circumstances to be in the same group as PITA, not that I had a choice. Given a choice, I rather not work together with PITA, because I know getting work done with PITA can be erm.. to put it in a very nice way… quite a challenge… a blood puking affair
Was assigned to do the Graphical User Interface with PITA, and its for one of the group projects for one of the modules that just ended very recently… One thing to note that PITA is not well versed in English, and my Chinese is so-so, always in rojak form with English. So communicating itself is a challenge. It wasn’t a who to blame thing, just that our upbringing is different. So I decided to discuss about the design and everything, and I asked PITA to send me the ideas by night. And so PITA agreed… and the email is hilarious. I am going for a corporate theme, and PITA told me to use a Black and White theme. Black text on white background you mean?! And that’s PITA exact idea of a theme. *faints*
I wrote back, saying I don’t really understand and I hope to see the design, to see what PITA meant by that. PITA agreed, and no design came after a week. By then, I already lost hope in PITA already. Scratch that, that hope was already lost when kenna grouped that time… I flipped man… I was like… omg… black text white background =.=”
Fair enough, then comes to designing of logo. To be fair, I asked PITA to do it also, and see whose is better to be used for the project… Again, I took pains to remind her that we are going for a professional feel, and not some holiday resort thingy… and you can all guess what PITA did. For the logo turned out to be just nice for holiday resort la! I just want to bang my head against the wall.
So in the end, I did most parts of the GUI myself. Feeling very sore and pissed. But that’s ok. What really drove me up the wall was PITA incessant need to seek my attention, and it got so bad that I practically can’t do nor concentrate on my work.
Things escalated to that state during the week after exams. I really am so pissed la. I almost want to slap PITA and almost blurted out something very rude, but stopped myself in the nick of time. =@
It really drove me mad, cos can’t PITA tell that I am really busy doing work and that my concentration shouldn’t be broken? especially when its an urgent task to be rushed… Gosh! I really hate PITA number 1. (Because there is 1 more PITA – leave to next post). Asking PITA to do part of the test cases is also a very puking issue. Presented the tables of the test cases to me without labeling the needed information to distinguished the conditions and parameters tested. Very SMART. Notice my sarcasm… Initially, it was all written individually, and it was so redundant cos presenting it in table form makes it clearer to look at. I kinda lost my cool when talking to PITA. Honestly, dealing with PITA is really a pain on my nerves.
In the end… I had to re-edit so much parts, and add on the test cases myself. It looks more like I did testing than what PITA is supposed to do. Ask PITA to do diagrams, PITA will reply, I dunno how to do. Ask PITA to do coding?! same response. Ask PITA to do anything == I dunno. Then what PITA really knows?! Seriously, I wonder how PITA made it to university. Really.
All in all, did PITA contribute much to the project? I will say just a whee tiny bit. Just count PITA lucky if awarded with decent grades.
