23 Feb 2008 short ramblings…
 |  Category: my life  | 2 Comments

Here I am, back again, and this time, I just finished my stint as a first time live blogger. Still have areas of improvement, and I hope to be a better live blogger next time :) Thanks mic for letting me have the chance to do live blogging for the bootcamp lecture today…

I had my fair share of fun, and learn a fair bit of Zend Framework… Looking forward to the next event. Its good to see some of my school mates today, as I usually don’t get to see them when I am on IA… :)

Feels really great after almost a full’s day rest… and am taking it quite alright and easy… hehe, it’s been a while since I last came back to NTU… so it feels good to take bus 179 and head back to campus. Crazy I know… :P but I guess, I miss school after all, am on IA at the moment… :)

Am back… Moving on, where I’ve given a small snippet from the Zend Framework Documentation…

There is a PHP Primer document created by Chin Yong and Adrian, and this is to help other programmers of other programming languages to help assist the transition from eg: Java to PHP, or Rails to PHP…

After a short technical hiccup, we are back in business, and the data was retrieved from the database and displayed onto the page created.

A quick recap, we have covered Installation, Bootstrapping, as well as Controllers, Database Connection of the Zend Framework. Next we will move on to Actions… and Creating a Simple CMS…

It all ended too soon… and I hope everyone had a good time :)

Moving on, the Admin controller is created, to differentiate from the IndexController… this is to create the Admin panel (if I am not wrong)…

Rama then demostrated about QEDWiki (Quick Easy Deployment Wiki), and its built entirely on Zend Framework. Nokia Mosh Beta is also another application that makes use of Zend Framework. The slides will be handed over to Miccheng, and it will be available for download.

It all ended too soon, and the participants and speakers headed to the reception. :)

Cheers,
Nicole

Here I am, at LT3, NTU, where the first inaugural PHP Bootcamp Lecture Series is held. Bright and early, and we have quite a bit of people scattered throughout the Lecture Theatre. As programmers, the presence of the laptops are the norm.

This will be a very long post, and pardon me, as I am doing Live Blogging for the first time

**Slides will be uploaded and emailed to the participants of today’s lecture.
