Anticipation…

my life Comments Off

w00t! Time flies and I barely have time to sit down and write some proper entries…

Today is the day of my final IA assessment… feeling good that 20 weeks of IA has passed, and going to bid farewell on 6th June. But then again, I feel sad, as I will miss all the wonderful colleagues and friends that I’ve been interacting with during the course of my internship… Oh well… *sniff*

I mean, there are bound to be emotional attachment to a place after some time… Its been great to have such an opportunity to intern at this place. :) Do look out on my post about reflections of my internship… I am sure I have tons to write about it! hehe…

Quick Announcement:
From Saturday to Monday… I will be unplugged from the Internet almost all the time… Don’t miss me ok? I will be back before you know it. :P

With Love,
Nicole

whirlwind of life

my life 4 Comments

Finally, the whirlwind of activities for internship is starting to come to an end… Just yesterday, I managed to get my report printed and binded, just in time to be submitted on my final assessment today! w00t…

Also, I was at the project competition organized by my internship company yesterday. Though I was the last speaker to present my project, I think I did ok, though its a lil more screwed up though… Haha… Let’s just say its a well worth sacrifice for not going with the guys to Timbre on Wednesday night, after Barcamp event (shall leave it to another post)…

Cos I got the gold award from the competition. Quite worth though. :)

hehe….

how much “power” do bloggers have?

my life 8 Comments

I was shocked to read that the blogger wrote racist remarks (and kenna arrested). Pleading ignorance ain’t going to get the blogger off the hook. Especially for writing such things. This has happened before, and history just repeated itself.

Which brings me to my point of focus in this blog post… Do we as bloggers, blog what we please, write what we like, and say what we can all because the blog is our personal space on the Internet? What if it potentially runs afoul of the law even without ill intentions?

I question the power that bloggers have. To what extent is the “power” constructive? If its beyond that… does it spiral out of control? Does it become destructive? Is this “power” controllable?

[late entry] Blog2u Seminar…

my life 3 Comments

Indeed, its a great joy and pleasure to attend another seminar by Blog2u. I’ve had a great time at Media Maker’s Evening, and this seminar was as fun as before. And I’ve walked away with a better understanding of social media through different perspectives…

The speakers were great, and provoked several of my thoughts on social media… (I shall leave that to another blog post).

Not to mention, met 2 other featured bloggers, Leonard and Elaine, for the very first time! :) woohoo… Daniel was also a featured blogger, but I’ve met him before… also, the long time no see tstar! haha… and oh yes, ridz was also there too… :)

The seminar kicked off as an informal session… and I was soon engrossed with what the speakers are presenting… each of the speakers were really great!

First off was Elaina from Kaiiten Communications, followed by Nic, CNet Bloger, and Jairus from Comiqs… I like the topics that they presented, and yes, I will be blogging about some issues that struck me along the line of social media. :)

Last but not least, Paddy also did a quick overview about the history of the company… :) “Underpromise, Over deliever”. Kudos~!

I look forward to attend the next event by Blog2u… :)

For the pictures, head over to Elaine’s blog!

Happy Birthday my dearest sister.

You’ll turn 19 today, and about to embark on the next phase of education – University. While there is so much I can say and guide you, but I would like to let you try and experience it for yourself…

I hope you’ll like the present I got for you…

back to office.

my life Comments Off

The long weekends are gone, and thus its back to the office again… this is week 20, critical week for most of the interns. Final assessment, and submission of report. hurray! I can smell freedom soon… but it will be short-lived.

For my vacations are packed… But I do hope to really unplug and rest up a bit… Somehow, I suddenly realize I want to start taking things easy…

Initially, I wanted not to work during the vacation, but in the end, I wavered, and decided to take the plunge and do it. Perhaps by being a workaholic, I can cast aside my terrible feelings, and let work busy me day in day out… Letting myself lose in work, might be the best thing that can happen… oh well.

Be back with updates… Cheers…

heartfelt & deepest condolences…

my life Comments Off

Been reading a lot on the disasters that struck Myanmar and China. I can’t help but feel sad for the plight that the people are facing…

Heart-wrenching stories after stories… and I’ve never been so moved to tears… But more often than ever, the stories of the earthquakes tugged my heart strings more than the stories of the cyclone… Don’t get me wrong… Both disasters have a devastating outcome… Just that I guess I ain’t reading enough of what’s happening in Myanmar…

Many are left dead, or missing after the disasters. It’s saddening to watch the old people mourn the passing of their younger kin…their kids… and their relatives… We can lose all the material that we own or have… but we can’t afford the price to lose our love ones…

My deepest sympathy and condolences goes to all the young ones, the missing, as well as the orphaned children… Some are left with no surviving next of kin… In one instance, many perished. Life is fragile yet precious indeed.

These leave me pondering, are Man responsible for all these ? What triggers such a global reaction to these disasters ? Have we been doing our best to preserve what Mother Nature has given to us? Oh well…

Time and again has proven that Man are responsible for everything He does… Which just goes to show, responsibility comes a tad too late.

I count my blessings to be here in Singapore, save from natural disasters.

I pray that the survivors will overcome their fear and lead a normal life again… though things will never be the same again, I hope they will be able to move on…

love lessons from vegas.

Watched “What Happens In Vegas”. Light-hearted romance comedy film… :) I enjoyed the movie, though I wished it could be better… Don’t wish to spoil the show for anyone, but I do encourage you to catch it~ teaches us a few good lessons on love and relationship.

I like these bits of it… and it is often so true that one ends up pleasing the other, and loses himself/herself in the process… and by not treating someone as special, one can truly be oneself. :)

I guess thats really a subtle way of waking me up from my still deep slumber…

Sleepless… =(

my life 5 Comments

I can’t sleep. Too much on my mind. As I mentioned, I never liked emotional rollercoasters. Love em, Hate em, they are what makes us grow and be a lil wiser each time.

Life’s been a bitch at times, yet good at times, and oh so random at times too… No matter what, it’s never smooth sailing all the while… I used to think I am steering a ship in a vast ocean, and I still am thinking this way…

But perhaps this thinking is flawed… should I rethink about this analogy ? Have I been using the wrong analogy to guide myself through the journey of life?

I rant, I scream, yet no one hears… The inner screams and frustrations are never understood… I am one hellva angry young adult. Sure, you will not see the frustrations and the pain in my face, for I’ve learnt to hide them…

I lost count of sleepless nights I get, be it stress induced, or whatever others may be.

As I stare upon the sky out of my window, I can only wonder why…
