Lower back pain has always been a bugbear for me. And the problem started when I was in university. At first I thought nothing of it, dismissing it as just some random aches.
Boy, how wrong was I. The pain got so bad that it degraded my quality of sleep. Sleeping became a painful issue as well.
Concerned, I went to the doctor a few times, each time given medicines to stop the pain, though if only, a short solution. Upon further questioning, he realized that my lack of movement (because of constant sitting) and high intake of caffeine levels might be the culprit of my back pain.
He explained to me that caffeine reduces blood flow to the area of pain, thus hampering the chances of the body to recover on its own. And me relying on muscle relaxants and pain killers is not going to work either. (I don’t like to be popping pills all the time)
Subsequent checks revealed that my back bone is safe, though potentially, a very old injury could have contributed to the pain as well.
So now, I’m cutting down caffeine levels. I can’t bring myself to quit drinking coffee and tea totally, but I don’t mind enjoying an occasional cuppa. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve started opting for caffeine free drinks. I shall stick it out for as long as I can, and note the changes to my back.
For starters, its aching less, and the pain levels have fallen. It’s manageable, but I would like to minimize more of the pain. So I guess, less seating on weekends, and run around more!
For a change, I get to stay home the whole day and ‘nua’… Not a bad thing, as it allows me to rest, and let the mind churn out some ideas of its own. It also allows me to spend time at home with the family… So some family bonding time is in order.
Its nice to be playing games on my HP Mini, and not to mention the delight of indulging myself with comics, articles on photography and what not.
Instead of a usual photo post on Friday, I decided to put in a music video for a change. Memories – David Guetta ft Kid Cudi. It’s groovy rhythm sets the mood for the long weekend baby!
On the other hand, I’m back to my cheerful self, waking up each day feeling great. It’s an awesome feeling, to know that there are people caring for you, and whatever happens, keep walking with your head held high
Kinda glad that this is a 4 day work week… Because Terence is coming home, perhaps I will get to meet him this weekend if possible.
Work’s facing a small hiccup, but I guess all’s ok… at least its being resolved… Nothing much I can do but wait and see before deciding the course of action.
Not to mention that this Friday is Good Friday, and Easter Sunday is coming.
This is also going out to a friend whom was knocked down tragically on 1st April 2000. You are never forgotten. Your smile is always with us in our hearts. May you rest in peace *minute of silence* I’m okay, just feeling the loss of a friend, whom otherwise will be such a lady killer with his boyish charms, and a very bright future ahead of him. It’s been 10 years. Time flies.
Anyways, onward to the month of April! w00t. 1/3 of year 2010 is over.
