When I first learnt that National Geographic is going to open a retail store in Singapore, it feels really great, for I’ve been a fan of National Geographic, devouring their magazines and pictures in their monthly issues, covering different places and topics… Now I can finally see them in store at Vivocity.

On 12th December, a group of bloggers and myself were invited to the preview of the National Geographic Store.

Met up with Nadia, and Ridz at Newton Food Center for some bites, and then head towards the meeting point… I was quite excited to see a convoy of SUVs parking there, waiting to take us to the venue itself. woohoo~ *excuse my excitement, but I like cars…*

We posed for a group picture before setting off…

Oh, I had a ride in this very good looking SUV. :P But I am not going to disclose here. Click to read more!!

We were told, a blogger to a car each… and I chose this handsome black SUV…

    Hehe…

Thats Krisandro with the car that he chose…

And off we went… Unfortunately, bad traffic held up the convoy… Oops… but it was still quite an experience to ride in a SUV and reach Vivocity in style. I also found out that the stickers on the cars are meant to hide scratches from off-road trips… woo… but it adds style to the car!

    Voila!

Definitely more than a store I gotta tell ya!

It will be officially opened on the 14th December 2008! Do check it out ok?

The moment I’ve stepped in, I was transported to a place of exploring and discovery… Was being struck by the spacious layout, and neatly arranged products… and seeing that most of the displays were arranged on wooden furniture adds to nice touch of nature to the store…

Behold the giant logo on the floor at the entrance… and the giant horse (made of wood)..

That’s Jean and DK, at the booth display with National Geographic Monthly magazines!

I can’t help but go trigger happy with the displays inside the store…

I love the photographs displayed on the wall… and each speak a thousand words… :) One can expect the photographs to be different, as they get rotated with new ones from time to time. Cool!

What caught my eye was the Climate Chamber… where one can try out its range of jackets before purchasing them, having a feel of how cold the harsh conditions on expeditions, and how that these jackets can actually keep warm. :) I had a very cool experience in there… but no picts at this point in writing (they are shot with nadia’s camera).

I first went in without the jacket, and boy, it really is cold… (guess I have poor resistance to cold), and I felt shaky when I stepped out to put on the jacket, before heading back in… But I could feel the difference with the jacket on me. Feels really warm and snug :)

    DK is a prisoner! Muahahhaa…

    Oops… Ok back to topic…

There is so much to see, to explore, to discover~

    The men behind the store…

I’ve too much to write, but I shall not, so as to let you experience for yourself in person at the National Geographic Store… It will be officially opened on the 14th December 2008. Edutainment at its best for both the young and old. There is something for everyone! :P

Last but not least, thanks Pat, Tania and Brian from Ogilvy for the invite to preview the National Geographic Store.

Oh… Plus a slideshow on what all the photographs of the trip. :)

I hope you will enjoy exploring the National Geographic Store as much as I did. Its an eyeopener, a place for edutainment (Education + Entertainment).
