celebrations 2 – Home
August 19, 2007 4:35 pm my lifeErm this is going to be quite a long post with many photographs
*you have been warned*
This post goes out to my family – mum, dad, sis and Hendri, for taking time to come down to my place, where I celebrated my birthday, yet another early one
no complains, i feel really really happy and blessed
cos my actual date for my birthday is 22nd August.
I love this blouse my mum got for me!
Hee… and oh yes, I am very glad that Hendri could make it to my place for the celebrations,
Had a very very satisfying dinner… and my dad single handedly whip up all these dishes… hehe… fortunately, i have the picts of his cooking…
allow your eyes for a visual feast!
The dinner is simple, but I like it best, cos it consists of all my most of my favorites, and i love my dad’s cooking very much
prawns! live-swimming prawns, and its steamed to lock in all that freshness…
plus a home made dip consisting of spring onions, chilli and soya sauce and sasame oil.
sweet succulent prawns dipped into the sauce provided much oomph to the tastebuds and they taste awfully good on its own…
so does the crabs… alive up till the very moment that they were killed and cooked. the flesh is really tender and sweet, and oh, the XO liquor provided much flavour to the dish too… I drank quite a lot of the gravy *hic* but no sign of drunkenness la… lol…
Next up… a dish of fried fish… not the usual fish one eats almost everyday…
According to my mum, it looks like eel, but i am not sure. The skin is quite nice to eat and the flesh is oh so sweet… best part, the bones are all located in one place so that eating is not messy at all.. Delicious la… best steamed, boiled with porridge and fried to a crisp.
Resturant grade dish… Made up of tempura prawns, as well as fried century egg (!!!) [oh, but it taste really really good... different from the usual texture of century egg], and combined with a sauce made up of chillies, pineapple, tomatoes and ginger slices. The gravy is so appetizing that I can’t help but eat a little more than my usual share of rice.
That’s it for the food… and its present time! as mentioned earlier, mum bought for me the blue top (blog post first picture). and my sister decided to give me… well…
Earrings! the magnetic type.
so sweet…
I wore it upside down on purpose =X…
LOL
and this very elegant bracelet… all from mini bits
Wow… I am so happy with all that bling bling la…
Hendri and ME!
Notice that my dressing is not the very usual me
haha, can you make out what that is?! Make a guess, and see if you are right or wrong… hee…
another one… this time with my blue top…
hehe… ok, enough of whoring for the camera… and its time for the cake!
the lovely black forest cake. (pardon the pict, for its a little blurry)
Birthday cake, candles. which says, 22. aww…
Birthday girl blows off the candles…
hurray!
The first cut.
Dad made this agar agar from scratch, with mango and pineapple. but somehow the dish din turn out right though… edible, but its a bit amusing. cos it became more jelly than agar agar…
That’s me enjoying it…
Haha, in the end, after being tired of picking the fruit out of the “agar agar”, we poured into a sieve and washed the jelly away
it works ok, no doubt that started as a silly idea from Hendri…
and the fruits taste really good!
Lots of laughter and fun…
and I am one happy girl
Cheers.
