19 May 2009 Event: Acer Aspire Timeline
 |  Category: my life  | Tags: , ,

Was invited by Brian, and Tania, Ogilvy, to the Bloggers Preview of the Acer Aspire Timeline series.

I must say that the first impressions of the Acer Aspire Timeline was, looks sleek, thin, and the best part, it doesn’t attract finger prints ;P

The Aspire Timeline series offers 2 models, the 13″ and 14″ which weighs 1.6kg and 1.9kg respectively. I carried both models, and found that the 13″ weighs comfortably, but the 14″ weighs in a little too heavy for comfort, though the specifications is that it weighs about 1.9 kg. (then again, it’s just me)

It caught my eye that the screen offers a 16:9 aspect ratio, 1366 x 768 HD resolution. Makes the colors bright and vibrant.

The 13″ model comes with an optional DVD drive, while the 14″ has a DVD drive integrated into the chasis. Each comes with 6 cell batteries, that allows a potential of 8+ hours of battery life. I can’t verify that it will last 8+ hours, but one can get about 6+ hours of battery life from standard usage. (I need a review unit to test the battery life) :P

Comes with Vista Home Premium Edition, and up to 4GB of RAM, with up to maximum of 500 GB HDD Space, it’s a pretty generous specifications with both models going under SGD $2000.

One thing interesting to note that Acer has developed a cooling technology in collaboration with Intel – Laminar Wall Jet Technology. It is said that it lowers the temperature of the unit by up to 6 degress lower than of the user’s, making it totally safe to place the laptop on the lap and use it. Then again, I have no way of verifying this, as I read this off the press release.

The units on display were slightly warm to touch when it is idle, and not running any programs. I think that it might be hotter once more multimedia intensive programs are loaded.

The side profile that shows off its thiness, yes I kid you not.

One thing that I like would be the design of the hinge, and the overall design of the unit. A plus point would be the placement of the battery, which is small yet packs quite a considerable amount of battery power.

So yup, this is my first impressions of the Acer Aspire Timeline. I look forward to try it out if there is a review unit available. :)

Once again, huge thanks to Brian, Tania, Ogilvy and Acer for making this possible.
