06 Aug 2008 Sony Vaio Launch
 |  Category: my life

I was very fortunate and lucky to be invited to the SONY VAIO launch event, held at Fullerton Hotel on 31st July. Thanks Benjamin, Hill & Knowlton for the invite. I had an enjoyable time there along with some other bloggers – DK, Nadnut, Claudia, Vantan.

Upon arrival, everyone was issued a name tag… and here’s mine!

Closer to you – is the new direction of which VAIO is heading, and true to its slogan, the 3 series of models unveiled are well, bringing the experience closer to you.

VAIO – Stands for Visual Audio Intelligent Organizer.

I couldn’t much agree more with the design elements that has been incorporated into the laptops, and that its intelligent software is seeking to make tasks much easier than ever. Just Drag and Click is all that the user need to do. Wow.

The 3 new series are namely – ‘Z’, ‘SR’ and ‘FW’.

All 3 series cater to different kinds of users, and have their plus points.

First up, the ‘FW’.

Isn’t this so cool? A portable HD Entertainment machine on the move! It has a 16.4 inch Widescreen LCD, and shares the same 16:9 aspect ratio of HD LCD TVs, and this means, beautiful and clear quality pictures on your screen.

A Blu-ray Disc drive is included as well, and can store a whopping 50 GB of HD video content on a single disc! It really would suit entertainment buffs on the run… :)

Next, the ‘SR’.

The SR series on the other hand, encompasses work and play.

A simple action of pressing the button is all you need to transform the machine from work to play… 3 different environments can be user-configured, allowing customisation of wall papers, frequently used applications to complement the environment…

Which means, 1 laptop, 3 different environments. Switching from one environment to another do not require reboot of the laptop, which saves time, and gives one the luxury to switch instantaneously.

Available in Black, Silver and Pink.

Last but not least, the ‘Z’. And boy, that mean machine is my poison. I absolutely adore the machine.

Ain’t this sleek machine beautiful?

And what’s more to complement a sleek machine with a luxurious looking leather case?

Weighing in at 1.48 kg, it’s touted to be the lightest laptop amongst the 3 series of laptops. What I like most would be the well thought design that went into the laptop… From drilling random wholes behind the keyboard, as well as the Optical Drive, it allows weight to be shaved off. To top it off, the board and the cooling system is redesigned, allowing a more compact arrangement in the laptop.

Feast your eyes on the following pictures!

Before I end this post, allow me to highlight this design found in all the models.

One thing I like is the keyboard design. And by doing so, I can reduce my typo errors, which are happening one time too many these days… and it reduces noise whilst typing. All the letters are printed by laser, and this ensures that the lettering will not fade away from the keyboards after long duration of usage…

And finally, once again, thanks Benjamin for the invite!

Not to forget some of the bloggers too! :)

Cheers!

Nicole
