Universal Studios Singapore – Magic

12:13 am my life

I couldn’t possibly resist fun, thrill and excitement of Universal Studios Singapore. Made possible by the kind folks at Canon, and thanks to Glenn and Noel of Ogilvy for the invite.

The small, compact and sweet looking Canon IXUS 130 was my companion for the day, capturing all the beautiful sights and memories of the place.

The Canon IXUS 130 have a few colors – Orange, Pink, Silver, Black. Each of the color look equally good, in my opinion :)

Despite the rain that came down, it didn’t dampen my mood one bit, for the sights, and sounds unfolded before me in Universal Studios Singapore (USS) were so wonderful, drawing out the inner child in me.

Oh yes, I had so much fun, but lest I forget, I also managed to try out most of the features of the Canon IXUS 130, which left me impressed.

(sneaked this shot moments before I got onto the ride)

My first roller-coaster ride ever in my life. :P It was such a thrill that I can’t help but screamed my lungs out. Was a very short ride, but I was constantly pinned to the seat, and boy, I can’t get enough of roller-coasters :P

Tested out the IXUS 130 Low Light mode.

Took this shot whilst awaiting to enter the hall for Shrek 4D. Not too bad eh? My hand was shaky whilst taking this shot. Shrek 4D added an interesting element, like blowing jets of air, movement of seat, and even spraying of water when Donkey sneezed.

Fish-eye effects is one of the highlighted features on the Canon IXUS 130. I had a lot of fun with it, and the varying degrees of distortion made objects looked interesting too.

(Setting: High)

Smile! Say Cheese!

I made the house smile its best for me! :P I kinda like this shot produced with the fish-eye effect.

I think I just overate *burp*

The other would be the miniature-effect.

Look honey! I shrunked the truck!

I’m pretty much impressed by the miniature effect because it can make things look like little objects.

Tried my hand at applying miniature effects across landscapes, and feeling quite happy with the outcome.

I like the way how I could produce pictures of different effects, by playing with colors.

Color Swap is kinda cool, as it replaces the color of the scene with a chosen desired color.

See how my yellow became blue? :P

Color Accent on the other hand, omits the rest of the colors in the picture if it doesn’t match desired color. Toggling with the values increases/decreases the degree of the selected color accent.

Shot with blue color accent.

Shot with red color accent.

Oh yes, how could I fail to mention that the IXUS 130 takes camwhoring to the next level? :P

I tried both smile detecter and self-wink with timer feature. I totally dig the results, and here are some of my cam-whore shots. LOL! Totally love the fact that these functions eliminates the need of having to fumble with the camera for these moments.

(with smile detecter)

(with self-wink with timer)

Of the two, I prefer the smile detecter function as it worked really well. However, the same cannot be said for the self-wink function. It works about 75% of the time. This could be due to position of the eyes facing the camera. But nonetheless, both functions truly take cam-whoring to the next level of easiness :P

Apart for using it to cam-whore, it’s great to use it when taking pictures of people. And when they smile, the moment is captured.

In short, the Canon IXUS 130 left me a deep impression, as it’s by far a practical point and shoot, and being small and light, its easy to be carried around. Not to mentioned that it survived all the roller coaster rides whilst being kept in my pocket.

Throughout the time with the IXUS 130, I like how the pictures are produced, the colors turn out great, though most of the time, I fumbled with the settings. Perhaps I ain’t gotten used to it with the layout of the menus.

Fret not, I’ve not come to the end of the post yet, for I have yet to show you some of the things I see around Universal Studios. I have had so much fun that I wanna go back there again!

Hello Mr. Charlie Chaplin!

Would love to take this yellow cab.

Madagascar Theme park is truly colorful, and it reminds me of a friendly safari.

Who can forget these adorable characters?

This was the “base” where we left out bags, and to check back if we needed any help with the cameras.

Far Far Away Land.. Can I go far far away with you too?!

Hilary - Who can’t resist taking a shot at me :P

Magical castle – I wanna be a princess too.

Along the way to Revenge of The Mummy ride. Screamed like a chicken, but it’s really fun!

More Egyptian madness… and boy..these men are fierce!

You dare incur my wrath?!

Stairway to eternity

Battlestar Galactica – Can’t wait till its open!
