    Dusting the cob webs!

And by now, as friends would know, I am almost at the end of the 2nd bridging module. End of module date would be 10th November, where it’s also know as… examination. I remembered just a few days back, where I was on the verge of frustration over my second and final assignment. Yet, I am thankful to have friends who guided me alongside the assignment and the encouragement to carry on.

Each time I feel like giving up, I’m reminded why I choose this path, be it through my work or otherwise, and I thank God that I am led into this for a reason and purpose. I may not understand it now, but I trust that it will all turn out to be for the best. :)

And thus, with renewed energy, I shall continue in my quest to start revision for the paper ahead.

Well, as the title suggest, it sure sounds like hacking the a jar of blackberry jam. :p Okay, it has nothing to do with food… but a lot to do with BlackBerry RIM. Got your attention? Good.

Let’s see… the ingredients that go into a BlackBerry JamHack 2012 would include a 40 hour coding marathon. It runs in 10 cities, over 2 weekends (5 cities simultaneously each weekend)

So.. what is the BlackBerry JamHack all about?

I’m halfway into my second module of my bridging course on route to my graduate diploma in Social Work for Jan 2013. Needless to say, my first module left me gasping for breadth like a fish out of water, for things were happening too fast too furious. Okay, blame it on the lack of improper time management. That really jolt me up as I didn’t wish to pack any of my modules.

Looking at it, it’s also my first attempt juggling both work and studies at the same time. It’s actually quite draining, as classes, although held on the weekends, it still is a struggle having to drag your feet to the classroom. I’m too used to sleeping in on the weekends! (That’s something I will have to adjust)

I kinda look forward to studying after work each day (as often as I like), though I still am striving to strike a delicate balance between studying and socializing. I do miss my friends, and all the fun times I used to have.

I’ve been in the Social Service Industry for 6 months and counting. Each day never fail to teach me to be even more self aware of myself, and that it has also helped me to deal with past issues that I ran away from. I’m only human, and everyone of us have issues to work with. Don’t worry, I am in a better shape now, and my walk with God is on-going.

    Have a blessed day! :)

    Till the next post.

School has started and commuting to UniSIM from the east seems like history repeating itself again. Except that this time, I’m pursuing a Grad Dip. Social Work as part of the qualifications that I would need in my journey as a Social Worker.

Its a kind of odd feeling being in a class filled with students of different age groups, and at the same time awed that I could potentially learn from them as well, after all, this is an adult learning classroom with many mid career switchers from different industries.

So far, I’ve gained different insights, and appreciating the philosophical ideas behind certain concepts. Simply put, theories may be easy to understand, but it wouldn’t be easy applying them in practice.

Its a tall mountain to conquer, and I will do my best.

    Till the next post…

A birthday marks the start of a new chapter.

And as Chapter 26 closes, Chapter 27 opens.

Not that I will forget so easily what happened when I was 26, but I am looking forward to what the journey ahead in life might bring.

I’m also glad to have my boyfriend, family and friends rallying and supporting me at my lowest, and for that, I’m very thankful.

Alright, I shall keep this post short and sweet, for today’s a special day. Well, at least for me :)

I’ve a feeling that 27 will be an awesome number.

Photo shot using Sony NEX-F3 (18-55mm lens)

School’s gonna be starting soon, and believe it or not, I can’t wait to start school… then again… maybe not.

Actually, post graduate studies wasn’t even on my list to begin with… just that I will need some formal qualifications to continue my journey into social work. Just in case anyone wonders which higher learning institute I will be… Its none other than UniSIM.

Format of each lesson is as follows… 2 alternate weeks of face time with the lecturer, 2 assignments and an exam. Yup, all in a spate of 7 to 8 weeks. Each module is conducted during the weekends, so you can see that my weekends are very much burnt for the next 15 months or so.

A brief respite would be to be working 4 out of 5 weekdays, so as to be able to cope with studying and whatsoever remains of my social life. Looks like I will have to kick in my next phase of time management skills!

In spite of all the flurry of activity, I’m happy to be able to pursue what I would want to do than slaving away in a job which I would otherwise drag my feet to everyday.

Oh yes, I forgot to add that school starts on 25th August 2012.

    Till the next post…

Thanks to the kind PR folks, I manage to get the opportunity to review the Sony NEX-F3 camera.

I took the camera along with me whilst visiting Gardens By The Bay. Be it indoors with artificial lighting, or in the conservatories, the Sony NEX-F3 didn’t disappoint – images turned out vibrant, crisp and sharp.

The above are sample images that I’ve shot using the Sony NEX-F3 in one of the conservatories at the Gardens by the bay.

The Sony NEX-F3 weight distribution is quite balanced, and that is having its kit lens 18-55mm attached to the camera unit. Expect the weight to shift more towards the lens when using other lenses which are heavier in weight.

I’m still reviewing the camera, and thus, this is my first impression of the Sony NEX-F3. Quick response, Sharp and Vibrant. Oh, its quite light and handy to bring it around. :)

Check back for a more in-depth review of the Sony NEX-F3 soon. Also, I will be reviewing the Sony W100 camera in a separate blog post!

The 8th month of year 2012.

    How time flies!

It has been a pretty crazy journey since the start of 2012. I don’t even know where to start scribbling the entries on my blog.

While I start pondering over them… excuse me while I prepare reviews and having fun with gadgets. I’m currently having fun with the Sony NEX-F3, and am totally in love with it. Not to mention that the Sony W100 is a beauty too. I will elaborate why in the coming posts.

    In the meantime, take care!

Indeed, time flies, and my, how I have neglected this blog of mine… I would be surprised if anyone’s still reading my blog these days…

I’m now much settled down into a 8 am to 5 pm weekday job, and about to embark on my postgraduate studies in August, on top of everything else that I would do during the weekends… like shore trips… checking out places etc…

And I will be back… after dusting this blog a little more. :P (that doesn’t make sense…)

Its a beautiful song, as always.

For miracles do happen, when one believe.

Just came back from the Festival of Biodiversity held at the Botanic Gardens. It is an annual affair where exhibitions and talks are held to educate and raise public awareness of the marine life and plants that one still can find around our shores and that of the southern off-shore islands.

The turnout was great, with volunteers all donning furry mascots made with love, and everyone seem to be enjoying themselves, even if the weather has been really hot and humid. I had fun, and a very well-spent weekend.
